Avast ye blog readers!

Dr. Stephanie reminded me that today is TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY! How could I forget? Oh sorry, International Talk Like A Pirate Day.

In honor of this important occasion, I offer this bad joke:

A pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel shoved down his pants.

The bartender asks: What's with the steering wheel?

The Pirate replies: Augh! It's driving me nuts!

I'm looking forward to this "holiday" a few years from now, when I can teach Ada the ever-pliable joke about the Pirate's favorite (insert item here). Pirate's favorite salad green? Arrrugula. Pirate's favorite vegetable? Arrrtichoke. Pirate's favorite holiday (besides this one)? Arrrbor day. You get the idea.

Oh, and how I know about Talk Like A Pirate Day? Stephanie (who knows all) sent me this photo:

  1. oh, dude. my husband's cousin used to regale us with these all the time. that is, he'd do it when I BEGGED him to. b/c I loves me some pirate humor.

A kid sees a pirate walking down the street with two wooden legs, and belt sanders strapped across each one. The kid runs up to the pirate and says, "hey, mister pirate, why ya wearin' belt sanders on your wooden legs?"

The pirate responds, "Yarrr. They shiver me timbers."

    *wipes eyes*

    sigh. love.

  2. Get out!?
Years ago I did some 'walla' - I don't know if that is the right spelling - background mood sounds for a pirate museum thingie in the Bahamas.

That was the funnest afternoon ever with much Arrring, and Ahoy Maities, and singing drinking songs and so on.

It was like being in Pirates of the Caribean.

  6. When I told D. about Talk Like A Pirate Day, she asked me if there had ever been real pirates, and then said that pirates should have a "Talk Like a Normal Human Being" Day.
