Random quote and unrelated photo of the week

whiz burgers

This obsession with “street-cred” reaches its apex of absurdity as hipsters have recently and wholeheartedly adopted the fixed-gear bike as the only acceptable form of transportation – only to have brakes installed on a piece of machinery that is defined by its lack thereof.

  3. Can't ride a bike and suddenly even more proud of it. Have recently been using Coke to attempt to dissolve coins in line with four year old's desire to do 'experiments'. Thank God he can't read yet. (Hope that your parents had a great trip, by the way)

  4. Fixed gear bikes are defined by not having a deraileur.

Fixed gears and Brakes are not mutaully exclusive.

  5. Oh! Nearly forgot... the gear is not on a "free wheel" hub, but fixed to rotate when the wheel is rotating.

If it is on a free wheel hub then that's a "single speed", not technically a "fixed gear"

Both can have breaks without needing a new name though.

  6. Psst, "Anonymous" (if that IS your real name) - this is a QUOTE. Perhaps this is something you'd like to take up with Douglas Haddow, who wrote the words I quoted.
