Even in the summer, my girl still wears them some nights (we buy one size bigger than she'd normally wear.) Also, the Old Navy ones are good, and many of them aren't too obnoxious. The shirts at Target that bother me are the "humor" t's for kids, you know, the ones that say, "I get whatever I want," "mommy's little shopper"-- that kind of thing. Maybe I don't have a sense of humor anymore?
